Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
A fire has ravaged a Durga Puja pandal in Dum Dum, leaving the puja organizers concerned about the rebuilding process. At approximately 5 am on Tuesday, members of the Netaji Sangh club discovered the fire in their mandap and promptly notified the fire department.
Firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control within an hour, but extensive damage was inflicted on the pavilions. While no clear cause has been identified, local authorities have initiated an investigation into the incident.
Jaydev Majumdar, a member of the Dum Dum Netaji Sangh puja organizers, shared his account of the incident, stating that they had completed their work the previous night and had gone to each household. Unexpectedly, in the early morning, they received information about the fire engulfing the mandap. The fire seemed to have originated from the upper part of the pavilion, and the community rallied to douse the flames. The cause of the fire remains unknown, prompting questions about whether it was an accident or deliberate arson, particularly given the reported disconnection of electricity.
